St. Joseph motorists will see new parking restrictions on Olive Street and Pacific Street as the city steps up efforts to boost traffic safety and smooth travel.
St. Joseph City Council recently approved updates barring parking on the north side of Olive Street between Sixth and Eighth streets, and on the south side of Pacific Street from 33rd Street to Belt Highway.
These changes follow requests from residents and groups—including Community Missions, which highlighted increased pedestrian activity on Olive.
Officials and law enforcement say the targeted areas, marked by steep ditches and frequent speeding, were risky for parked vehicles and responders alike.
Trial “No Parking” zones led to clearer sight lines and better safety.
The city’s traffic divisions confirmed ample off-street alternatives.
Residents are urged to follow the new rules for a safer, more efficient commute.
