Phil Welch Stadium Undergoes Major Renovations Ahead of 2026 Season |
Historic St. Joseph Ballpark Enhances Fan Experience with Upgrades |
Phil Welch Stadium, the cherished home of the St. Joseph Mustangs, is undergoing significant renovations to enhance both safety and comfort for fans. These improvements are part of a comprehensive project funded by St. Joseph's Capital Improvements Program Parks and Recreation tax.
A key upgrade includes the installation of new concrete throughout the stadium, providing a solid foundation for additional enhancements. This development sets the stage for the introduction of new seating options, featuring both bleachers and reserved box seats equipped with chair backs. Fans interested in securing these upgraded seats can contact the Mustangs' office at 816-279-7856.
In addition to seating improvements, the stadium has recently installed a state-of-the-art video scoreboard. This modern addition aims to elevate the game-day experience by offering clearer displays of player statistics and facilitating special event announcements.
Safety measures have also been prioritized, with the replacement and extension of protective netting along the first and third base lines. This enhancement is designed to better shield spectators from foul balls, ensuring a safer environment for all attendees.
The renovation project is progressing ahead of schedule, with completion anticipated before the Mustangs' 2026 season opener. These upgrades reflect a commitment to preserving the historic charm of Phil Welch Stadium while integrating modern amenities to enrich the fan experience. |
